Local MP Alan Campbell today gave a talk at the Old Low Light on the Fish Quay as part of a series called Leading Lights Talks.

The well attended talk was to introduce the opening of a new exhibition at the Old Low Light Heritage Gallery called ‘ Shields v The Toon and which covers the 600 years of North Shields’ battles with Newcastle to remove restrictions and monopolies over trade on the Tyne, which greatly limited the development of the town.

Alan said “I was pleased to be asked to give a talk to mark this exciting exhibition.  I spoke about the importance of fishing to the area, the exciting regeneration of our coast and future plans for North Shields.”
