Local MP Alan Campbell recently went along to Meadow Well Connected to join local youngsters taking part in their holiday kids club.

The club which Meadow Well Connected have running as part of a Big Lottery funded programme, seeks to tackle the difficulties faced by parents during the summer holidays by providing activities and healthy food options.

This is part of a wider regional research project which is happening regionally with Greta de Freyter of Northumbrian University undertaking research into the impact of engaging activities coupled with quality, healthy food.  The research will ultimately inform the Holiday Hunger Bill being proposed by Frank Field.

Alan Campbell said “It was great to go along to see at first hand the range of activities on offer at the centre.  I know how difficult it is for parents juggling work and childcare in the summer holidays so this is a real lifesaver for many local parents.”
