I have welcomed the extra resources that are being deployed to tackle anti-social behaviour on the Metro over the coming months.

We know that Metro stations are major gateways into our area and the coast is a big attraction.

As part of the plan to reduce anti-social behaviour on and around the Metro, Police will be conducting high visibility patrols in and around Metro stations combined with plain clothed operations to try and prevent disorder from happening.

Nexus and Police and Crime Commissioner Kim McGuinness have also announced extra funding that will see security teams on nearly all of Metro’s evening services, bringing security on the Metro to the highest level it has ever been.

The impact of anti-social behaviour can have a huge effect on residents and businesses and I am pleased that despite years of funding cuts to the police, action continues to be taken to support and protect communities.
