Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has reacted to the news that North Tyneside Elected Mayor Norma Redfearn has officially been made a Dame in the New Years Honours List.

The local MP said “I would like to congratulate Dame Norma Redfearn CBE, who has been officially recognised as part of this year’s New Year’s Honour List for her work in Political and Public Service.

Norma has been an inspirational leader in North Tyneside throughout her career and as Mayor of North Tyneside has delivered real and lasting change, transforming our coast and standing up for our local community.

Her dedication and commitment to the people of North Tyneside is exemplary and this is a well-deserved recognition.”
