Labour has a plan to help british businesses with the rising energy costs
The cost of living crisis isn’t just leaving families worried sick, sky-rocketing bills are threatening businesses across the country. They need solutions now, not a government missing in action.
Firstly, we will act to secure the future of Britain’s greatest industries, like glass, steel, and ceramics, with a £1 billion contingency fund to help energy intensive businesses. But we will also act to help local high street firms too.
We will increase the threshold for Small Business Rates Relief saving small businesses up to £5,000 this year. We will pay for this with an increase in the rate of the Digital Services Tax (DST) this year, raising at least £2bn from the most profitable global tech giants.
These are fully-costed solutions that meet the scale of this crisis. Labour has a plan to help businesses and families get through the winter, cutting bills and fixing the broken energy market to secure our economy for the future.
We cannot afford to waste another day in tackling this energy crisis.
