Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has been contacted by a number of constituents who are concerned that the new restrictions in the region have meant grandparents cannot undertake child care.

Alan said “The original proposal from the seven local authorities included a request to make “informal” childcare exempt – for example allowing grandparents to look after young children allowing parents to go to work. That was not the view of Ministers at the time but I hope they will change their minds in the face of the evidence. I can confirm that I have contacted the Secretary of State to ask him to review the decision and to do so as a matter of urgency.”
