Local MP Alan Campbell today visited Spar in Monkseaton as part of a visit organised by the Association of Convenience Stores (ASC) to highlight their campaign to tackle the root causes of shop theft.

Alan Campbell MP said “Shop theft remains one of the biggest challenges for local shop owners and their staff costing the 67 stores in Tynemouth constituency an estimated £1117,358 in the last year.  Shop theft is not a victimless crime and it is important it is not treated as such.  I’ve pledged to support the ASC and local shop owners and their staff in their ongoing campaign to tackle the root causes of shop theft.”
