Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell is urging Tynemouth residents to have their say on whether to continue the cumulative impact policy in Tynemouth Front Street.

In 2013/2014, the local MP worked alongside local residents and community groups to make sure the new council’s licensing policy included a cumulative impact policy for Front Street in Tynemouth.

The cumulative impact policy meant the council was able to put a restriction on further licensed premises and prevent longer opening hours in order to curb the impact on residents of the night-time economy. 

Now the policy is up for renewal and the council is consulting with residents on whether to extend it. 

Alan Campbell MP said ‘I believe that the cumulative impact policy has worked well and that it should remain in place.  However it is important that local residents have their say which is why I am urging anyone with a view to get involved.’
