Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has welcomed the launch of a new mobile and broadband checker, available both as an online tool and as an app. The Ofcom Mobile and Broadband Checker is a one-stop shop which will show you your broadband and mobile coverage, test your connections and suggest tips for improving performance.

The App shows voice, 3G or 4G coverage from all major network operators, both indoors and outdoors, at any location in the UK -; allowing people to compare which network offers the best service in places such as the home or office. Broadband availability and speed information is available using address-level data for the first time.

The app is free to download and available for both Apple and Android devices. It is also available as a web based version for desktop and laptop devices, which you can access at;

Alan Campbell MP said “It is concerning that 1.4 million homes and offices remain unable to sign up for broadband speeds over 10 Mbit/s, the speed required to meet a typical household’s digital needs.  Here in Tynemouth we have good coverage but for places like West Allotment upgrades still need to happen.  I am continuing to lobby to ensure that we get to 100%.
