Alan Campbell MP for Tynemouth Community Commitment Common Sense
I am supporting Coeliac Disease Awareness Month 2024. Despite common misconceptions, coeliac disease affects 1 in 100 people and nearly two thirds of those living with coeliac disease are yet to receive a diagnosis.
On average it takes an adult an alarming 13 years to obtain a diagnosis for coeliac disease.
It is imperative that the number of patients diagnosed is increased and the time it takes for a patient to receive a diagnosis shortened. I’m calling on @NHSEngland and @DHSCgovuk to promote national accountability and leadership for coeliac disease to ensure patients receive timely diagnosis and treatment they need.
