Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell said:

I am concerned at reports that the Government plans to slow down the supply of COVID vaccines to people in the North East to allow other parts of the country to catch up. I discussed the vaccine rollout with our local CCG and our Elected Mayor last week and it seemed that the local rollout was going well. Now it seems we are to be penalised for that. I do not accept that our area should be treated like this particularly since we have over 80’s still waiting for the jab. Instead of rationing supply the Government should be moving heaven and earth to get supplies of vaccine moving. I have told Ministers that and will give an update when I get a response.
