Earlier this month the Labour Party put forward a plan to continue the furlough scheme in the hardest hit sectors like hospitality and in areas of local lockdown. The scheme is due to end next month but now that areas like ours are facing new restrictions the case for continuing furlough is even more important.
Last month the Government ordered their MP’s to vote down our motion to protect incomes and protect jobs.
I have written to the Chancellor asking him to think again and continue to help employees and businesses during this extended period of uncertainty.
