“I appreciate the concern and distress that this year’s A Level results have caused for many local students.
Although this has been an unprecedented year for schools and students, the Government has handled A level results very badly.
Instead of learning the lessons from Scotland and ignoring the warnings from professionals, Ministers seem unable to understand the seriousness of this situation.
Many local people have been in touch and I have already taken this up with Ministers and called for an urgent review in order to allow the Government do everything possible to put this right.
The Government have let schools and students down badly. They should now apologise and sort things out to allow local young people to make the choices necessary for their futures.”
