I know that before the Covid-19 pandemic, I, like many people across the constituency would have been attending events to celebrate VE Day.
However, despite the ongoing restrictions of lockdown, there still ways in which people can be involved in marking this occasion.
I will be joining with the Royal British Legion and taking part in 2 minute silence at 11am, to honour the service and sacrifice of the Second World War generation, and also take the opportunity to reflect on the devastating impact Covid-19 has had on so many lives across the world.
It is an opportunity to honour and celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of a generation who gave so much so that we could be free from tyranny.
To everyone in our local community, thank you for all you are doing.
For now, please stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
