Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer ahead of Wednesday’s budget to call for a fairer distribution of resources.

The local MP wrote to the Chancellor following a meeting with the North East Chamber of Commerce to voice his concerns that the North East has not received it’s fair share of resources in recent years.

Mr Campbell said “I have written to express my view that leaving the EU without a deal will be hugely damaging to the North East and I have urged the Government to do all it can to avoid such an outcome.  The North East has been a beneficiary of EU funding based upon need.  It’s clear that that must be fully reflected in funding direct from the UK Government in the future.  The Government have repeatedly stressed their commitment to levelling up the playing field.  Wednesday’s Budget will show if they really mean it.”
