Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has responded to a new report from Barnardo’s; Overcoming the Poverty of Hope.
In partnership with YouGov, Barnardo’s polled over 1,000 young people aged 16-25 who told them
• 67% believe their generation will be worse off than their parents
• 62% said the Government cares more about older generations than their generation
• 69% believe they will have worse mental health than their parents
Alan Campbell, MP for Tynemouth said “It’s clear from the report that although many young people feel positive about the future, and are interested in what they can do about the big issues facing the country, for the most disadvantaged, there are serious challenges – including a lack of housing, qualifications, carers and role model, which puts some young people at greater risk of knife crime, gangs and criminal exploitation. I will be working with Barnardo’s to help young people overcome the poverty of hope they feel about their futures.”
