Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has today signed the Charter for Change – set up by the Construction Alliance North East and has pledged his support for the local SME construction sector. The Charter consists of a 6 point plan for reform of public procurement to ensure fairer procurement policies which put local companies first wherever possible. Alan Campbell said “During the recession many local construction businesses were hit hard by the lack of private sector development and a public procurement policy that favoured larger national companies. I fully support this campaign which seeks to ensure that smaller, local firms are not locked out of that process.”
