Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has pledged his support for the Alzheimer Society’s Fix Dementia Care campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to reform social care which is currently under-funded and under-resourced.  With an ageing population and increase in conditions such as dementia, the demands on social care are only set to get worse without action now.

Alan Campbell MP said “I’m supporting this important campaign to make sure that the government listens to the real concerns organisations such as the Alzheimer’s Society are raising.  For too long the government has ignored this issue which will only get worse.  There is a Green Paper on social care due in the summer and I’ve called on the government to make sure that the complex needs of people with dementia are addressed within a reformed system.”
