Alan Campbell MP today joined Mary Glindon MP and North East Soroptimists at No 10 Downing Street where they presented their Global Blanket on Anti-Slavery Day.

The Global Blanket campaign, organised by Stop the Traffik, and supported by local Soroptimists, aims to draw awareness of the trafficking of women and girls in making clothes for the fashion industry.

Alan Campbell MP said "I was pleased to support North East Soroptimists and particularly Shirley Hallam in raising awareness of this issue.  The trafficking of women and girls in industries such as fashion is rising alarmingly and it is vital that consumers know whether their clothes are connected to modern slavery, child labour and exploitation."
