During a visit to Newcastle Airport Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell asked for an explanation as to why so many flights were cancelled in the last month. EasyJet cancelled around 100 flights from the airport citing first staffing problems and then the security situation for the cancellations.

Alan Campbell said, "Cheap flights have opened up travel and tourism for so many hard-working families. It is hugely frustrating when flights are cancelled at relatively short notice. My constituents need to have greater reassurance that when they book flights they will not be cancelled in large numbers."
