Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has attended a Youth Summit to listen to young people’s views on political participation. The Youth Summit came at the end of a week of events for about 150 young people to consider key political issues.
Alan Campbell joined young people at the Menzies Hotel in North Shields and listened to their concerns and ideas. Alan Campbell met young people from Southlands School in Tynemouth who were considering whether or not the voting age should be lowered to 16.
Alan Campbell said, "These young people are the political participants of tomorrow. I was impressed by their interest and knowledge of issues. This was certainly a good opportunity to listen to young people’s views and for them to meet people involved in the decision making process."
