The Conservative promises of more police officers just do not add up says Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell. The Conservatives are promising 40,000 more police officers but Alan Campbell says the money is not there to pay for it.
Alan Campbell says, “People in Tynemouth constituency will be asking where the money is going to come from to pay for the additional officers. The Tories are committed to spending more, cutting public expenditure by 20% across the board and cutting taxes – all at the same time. I do not believe local people will be conned by empty promises without the money to pay for it. They remember that under the Tories crime doubled and the North east became the car crime capital of the country. Local people know that the Tories are not prepared to make the investment necessary and will put the record investment by this government at risk”
