Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell ways the naming of the Largs Bay is an historic day for Tynemouth shipbuilders and something local people can be very proud of.
Alan Campbell says:
“This is an historic day for Tyneside and I hope the beginning of more days like this.
“The Largs Bay is a tribute to the huge efforts of the Swans workers and those in the supply chain who have been able to demonstrate again their superb skills. It is also a tribute to Jaap Kroese and the Swans managers who have been vindicated in their belief that once again Swans can build ships for the Navy if they are given the opportunity. Ten years ago Swans was being allowed to go under. Ten years on military shipbuilding is back on Tyneside.”
