Alan Campbell MP has welcomed the "Extra Care" to bridge the gap between isolation at home and residential home and will be fighting for Tynemouth to benefit from the £87 million announced this week by the Labour government for this new form of care Alan Campbell said: "I know the heartache many pensioners have to face in Tynemouth when they have to make the stark choice between becoming increasingly isolated at home or going into residential care. A new form of housing called Extra Care is designed to bridge that gap. "I want to talk to housing trusts, social services, our primary care trust and housebuilders locally to see if we can put together a partnership that will bring this exciting form of care here. "The Labour government has made the money available in Westminster, it’s now up to all of us to work together to make sure we get our share in Tynemouth. "The Labour government wants older people to have real choices. Extra Care Housing is an exciting alternative to going into a residential or nursing home. "I for one will be fighting to bring this new extra care provision to Tynemouth." |
