Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell has welcomed the announcement by the government of new money to fund 45 Community Support Officers in the Northumbria Police Area. The Home Secretary announced £330,000 to fund 45 Officers for this year in the Northumbria area. Community Support Officers are a key part of the government Police Reform Programme and provide highly visible patrols, tackle anti-social behaviour and support their police colleagues. Local MP Alan Campbell said, ""I welcome the announcement by the government to fund 45 CSOs in the Northumbria area. I will be urging Northumbria Police to allocate Officers to the Tynemouth Command area. This is further evidence of investment in our public services working and making tackling anti social behaviour a high priority." |
