Local community projects in Tynemouth Constituency have benefited in the last 12 months by grants of more than half a million pounds. That includes £300,000 for Churches Acting Together based in Whitley Bay, seeking to convert the Oxford Street Methodist Church in Whitley Bay into a resource centre for young homeless people in the area.
Alan Campbell said,
"I very much welcome this new investment. I made it clear to Community Fund representatives that since there is a clear commitment to targeting areas in need, they should be looking at seaside and coastal towns to back local schemes. I have urged to the Community Fund to come to my constituency to hold a surgery and allow local people and organisations to find out more about how to apply for grants."
