Alan Campbell has welcomed the announcement in the Budget that pensioners in hospital will continue to receive their full pension.

The Chancellor announced that from now on pensioners in hospital would not lose their pension during the first 52 weeks and the effect would be to stop pensioners having to pay for bed and board in hospital.

Alan Campbell said

""A number of my constituents have contacted me about this and we’ve taken up their concerns with the government. It isn’t fair that pensioners were charged for their stay in hospital. This ends that anomaly and I very much welcome that."
