Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell was one of the guests at the official opening of the new Jobcentre Plus office in Whitley Road, Whitley Bay. The new Whitley Bay office is part of the Newcastle and North Tyneside District and serves Whitley Bay as well as nearby Monkseaton and Cullercoats. Jobcentre Plus has been created to provide a better customer service to jobseekers, employers and people of working age who are currently inactive in the Labour market. It will provide a more personal service to a wider range of people without work and for the first time will bring job funding and benefit services together under one roof. Speaking at the official opening Alan Campbell MP said: "Job centre Plus is joined up government in action and will be at the forefront of delivering better public services. Unemployment is down locally and nationally but we still need services to help people into work if they can work and support them if they cannot,. What we are seeing at Whitley Bay Jobcentre Plus is new investment coupled with reform of the way services are delivered. Jobcentre Plus is an ambitious programme, but we are ambitious for local people” |
