Alan Campbell MP supports a ban on the Canadian Seal Hunt

Local MP Alan Campbell is supporting calls on the Canadian government to ban their annual commercial seal hunt. 

The seal hunt started on the 28th March 2008 and will last until the end of June when 275,000 seals will be killed cruelly and unnecessarily.  Alan Campbell said ‘I feel strongly that the UK and Europe have a crucial role to play in preventing this unnecessary suffering and I am currently pushing ministers for a ban on the trade in seal products in the UK and throughout the European Union.  I have written to the Minister for Trade and the European Commissioners to raise this issue and press them to introduce bans at national and EU level’.
