Local MP attends service to mark re-opening of Salvation Army Hall
Local MP Alan Campbell has attended a service of dedication to mark the rededication of the refurbished Salvation Army Hall in North Shields. After major refurbishment the Hall is now open again for services and for community work. The event also marked the 130th anniversary of the establishment of a Salvation Army Corps in North Shields.
Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell attended the event along with Elected Mayor John Harrison. Alan Campbell praised the work of the people involved in the refurbishment part of which was paid for from the Mayor’s Well Being Fund.
Alan Campbell also praised the work of the Salvation Army in North Shields and elsewhere. He said, “The Salvation Army is often singled out as the one organisation which can be relied upon to be there when people need help whether its ex-service men and women, homeless people or people who are down on their luck. The Salvation Army in North Shields has a proud record of community work in the town over the last 130 years and the refurbishment of the Hall means their important work can continue.”
