MP votes to back ID cards for foreign nationals
Alan Campbell MP has voted to back a roll out of biometric ID cards for foreign nationals. The move came as a pilot was set up to roll out the scheme. Parliament backed the Order which means the measure which has widespread public support moves a step closer.
Alan Campbell MP said, “I have made clear my support for ID cards for foreign nationals. It is an important safeguard to know who can legally be here to work and an important safeguard for foreign workers themselves. Time and time again the public have shown their support for the scheme which makes the Liberal Democrats, who voted against the scheme, and the Conservatives, who sat on their hands, out of touch with the public on this issue.”
