MP’s Do Politix

Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell joined his neighbour Stephen Byers MP, Elected Mayor John Harrison and Cabinet Member Norma Redfearn at a North Tyneside event about Politics for 16-25 year olds. The event was organised by Barnardos and Do Politix and was held at The Parks in North Shields. Around a hundred young people attended and the politicians were put through their paces. Questions included issues like affordable housing, support for young people in education and work as well as facilities for young people and transport issues.

Alan Campbell said, “The young people did not hold back from letting their views be known and it is important that elected politicians listen to their concerns. The event meant not only did we learn a lot, but I hope the young people did too, not least that political engagement is important if anyone is to see progress towards their priorities.”
